Statement of Commitment
Riverdale Municipality is committed to the inclusion of all its community members, and visitors. Riverdale Municipality strives to remove all barriers and prevent future barriers to accessibility and meet the requirements of the “Accessibility for Manitobans Act”.

Overview

Riverdale Municipality is located in Western Manitoba and is home to over 2,100 people. We offer all essential services to our residents to provide a great quality of life. Here you will find the quaint comforts you expect from a smaller community, and the opportunities offered by a larger and prosperous centre. Riverdale Municipality is home to many public spaces including a community centre, parks, a beach, a public library, sports parks, walking paths, work and meeting spaces. As Riverdale Municipality offers all essential services it employs public employees who work within buildings (some open to the public, some are not) owned by the Municipality. It is Riverdale Municipality’s goal to ensure that these public spaces can be accessible for every individual.

Riverdale Municipality’s Accessibility Plan will outline the facilities in which services we offer, the barriers within these facilities & a plan to remove all barriers.

Barriers

Action Report

To ensure that Riverdale Municipality has assessed all municipal owned buildings, a committee must be put in place to identify potential barriers within each facility.

The Committee will be composed of a representative from each building, where they will address barriers and report those barriers to the chair of the Committee by no later than February 29, 2020.

The data will be complied and assessed then an action plan will be put in place by the Committee no later than March 16, 2020. This action plan will be shared with all municipal building managers.
