PUBLIC NOTICE
RE: State of Local Emergency Declared
Riverdale Municipal Council has declared a State of Local Emergency due to the ongoing heavy rainfall, rising water levels, and rapidly changing conditions throughout the municipality.
This declaration provides the Municipality with the authority to respond quickly and effectively to protect the health and safety of our residents. These powers include the ability to close roads, restrict travel in affected areas, and, if conditions warrant, issue mandatory evacuation orders for areas at risk.
What residents need to know:
1. Water levels continue to be closely monitored.
2. Road closures are in effect and may change with little notice.
3. Please do not drive through flooded roadways or around barricades. They are in place for your safety.
4. Residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas should remain alert, monitor municipal updates, and be prepared should an evacuation become necessary.
Municipal staff, emergency responders, and our Emergency Operations Centre continue to work around the clock to assess conditions, protect infrastructure, and respond to emerging issues.
We ask all residents to:
• Stay informed by following Riverdale Municipality's official communication channels.
• Avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas.
• Respect all road closures and emergency personnel.
• Check in on neighbours, especially seniors and those who may require assistance.
We understand this situation is challenging and appreciate the patience, cooperation, and resilience of our community as we work together through this event.
Updates will be provided as conditions change.
For emergencies, call 911. Please continue to monitor Riverdale Municipality's website and official social media channels for the latest information.
