| Withdrawal Deadline | September 23, 2026 | Should you choose to withdraw from the Election you may only do so no later than 24 hours after close of nominations. If you are elected and unable to serve, you can step down and a by-election will be held. |
Responsibilities of Elected Officials
In Riverdale Municipality, as a member of Council you will serve a four year term (until 2030) with your term officially commencing October 30, 2026. As one vote out of seven, you are responsible for representing your community and chart a course for our future! If you are considering running for Council, we encourage you to to attend Council Meetings, and speak to a municipal Council member about their experience. All elected officials must complete Manitoba's training on municipal codes of conduct.
Time Commitment
Council meetings are held twice a month (July and August is only once per month) in the evening, however, you will also be required to attend special meetings, committee and board meetings, and various public meetings/functions.
Duties
As a council member you will be part of a team that will develop and evaluate policies and programs for the municipality. You will ensure that the services are delivered to residents and property owners in the most efficient way possible.
Renumeration
Members of Council are paid in accordance with By-Law 2024-04 - Council Indemnity.
Qualification of Candidates
You may only run for Council if you are a Canadian citizen who is at least 18 years of age on the day of the election and a qualified voter within Riverdale Municipality. An employee of the Municipality may only run if they have taken a leave of absence from their position.
To confirmation registration, obtain nomination forms or discuss any matters regarding the 2026 Election further, please contact the Riverdale Municipality Administration Office from 8:30am to 4:30pm (closed from 12-1pm) Monday to Friday.
